At the start of the current crisis, Sig Amado fell ill and was forced to self-isolate, after unfortunately testing positive for COVID-19.

There followed weeks of pain, but in good spirit, he overcame the virus and eventually returned to work.

Signaller Amado has since carried on working tirelessly in support of our NHS. He says the experience has only strengthened his commitment to continue his training to become a nurse.

As a young man, Arnulfo Amado served in the Philippine Army. After emigrating to the UK, Arnulfo missed the camaraderie and challenge that military life offered, but still wanted to pursue his civilian career. He eventually joined the British Army as a Reservist and recently took part in an overseas training exercise in Cyprus.

Arnulfo Amado has proved himself to be an outstanding role model to his children and colleagues and embodies the British Army’s core values.
