On deployment: Women Worldwide
Protecting our nations interest at home and overseas is the calling our servicemen and women answer on a daily basis. The UK Armed Forces operate 35 operations in 30 countries around the globe and at sea with approximately 11,000 soldiers, sailors and airmen and women deployed at any time.

“We are not here for war, we are here to help, we are here to interact with people. On the ground, we want to engage with the locals. The kids, they absolutely love the soldiers they run up to us.”
AB Jo Noden — Bahrain 🇧🇭
“My highlights are being involved with sending signals to the ships which give permission for the boarding teams to search vessels. I enjoy knowing that my contribution is providing support to UK ships in this region.”
Cpl Sophie Fitzhugh — Somalia🇸🇴
“As the only female firing at the time, all the Somali soldiers congregated around my target to see my grouping. They were impressed and congratulated me with clapping and cheers, it humoured me as I still needed to adjust my sight, but I felt proud to illustrate my ability.”

“I have enjoyed supporting the Headquarters and ultimately supporting the ships at sea under UKMCC’s command. I get to see what the ships are getting up to and understanding the challenges they face when deployed so far from their homeport.”

“The biggest benefit of having us deploy alongside the units here is providing a Primary Care function, meaning that usually we can prevent any issues becoming worse for our Airmen and women, keeping them fighting fit.”
