Mandy Islam: Cancer Warrior
Major Mandy Islam has been in the Army since she was 16 and is the Staff Officer for the “Defence People with Significant Illness” project. After battling cancer for 4.5 years, she is now passionate to ensure disability and chronic illness policy in defence is as accommodating and up-to-date as possible.

Warrant Officer Abbas Salihu is Vice Chair of the Armed Forces Muslim Association.
A professional Judo player prior to joining the army, he became a full-time Army athlete, training at the University of Bath. He appreciates being able to perform Hajj while serving, and to observe Ramadan even when he was deployed in Afghanistan.
