📸 In Pictures: Second delivery of vaccines to ‘the Rock’
The Royal Air Force have made another delivery of vaccines to Gibraltar, supporting the British citizens during the pandemic
The RAF dropped off nearly 5,000 life-saving vaccines of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to RAF Gibraltar. This follows an initial delivery of nearly 6,000 jabs to Gibraltar earlier in January.
These vaccines will be used to vaccinate Gibraltar’s front line workers and the most at-risk population.
The shipment was loaded and flown from RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire on behalf of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. They were then handed over to the ‘Barbarians’ (members of the Royal Gibraltar Regiment) to transport the vaccines to St Bernard’s Hospital.
The 4,875 doses of the vaccine were kept in temperature-controlled packaging with 50kg worth of dry ice onboard the A400M.
