In Pictures: How our troops prepare for Afghanistan
Before heading to Afghanistan, the soldiers from 2 SCOTS took part in their final exercise where they faced scenarios that they will likely face while deployed
Soldiers from 2 SCOTS, Royal Regiment of Scotland, are now in Kabul, Afghanistan as part of NATO’s Resolute Support Mission. Like any deployment, these soldiers were tested before heading out on operations.
The exercise, which was led by the experienced soldiers from the Mission Training and Mobilisation Centre (MTMC), was held on Stanford Training Area (STANTA) in Thetford and saw the ‘Jocks’ from 2 SCOTS establishing a replica of the operation to rehearse their role in the NATO mission.
Far from home, they were put through a series of scenarios similar to those they will face in Afghanistan. Everything from the daily life on camp, how they go out on patrols, how they would respond to incidents and how they would respond to being attacked.
