📸 In Pictures: Dropping into Jordan
Paratroopers from the British Army’s Global Response Force dropped into Jordan where they worked alongside partner nations
The troops, from 16 Air Assault Brigade flew from Akrotiri in Cyprus and parachuted out of two RAF C130 Hercules over Jordan.
The jump — a Joint Theatre Entry exercise — is in support of the UK Carrier Strike Group, as they are in the region at the same time.
The jump was successful, with all paratroopers landing on the DZ (drop zone) which was secured by the Pathfinders — who had already completed a tactical high-altitude jump at 12,000ft days before.
Once in Jordan, British troops joined a tactical exercise with paratroopers from the Jordanian Special Forces Group, an activity that was witnessed by Jordanian and regional military partners.
After working with the Jordanians, the British troops moved south, passing the Dead Sea to link up with their US partners, whilst elements continued to train and mentor their Jordanian counterparts.
The UK and US share joint security and defence visions and are committed to working with the Jordanians.
