How many personnel worked on the COVID response this Christmas?
The Armed Forces are ready to work any day of the year, at any time. Find out what they did this Christmas to keep us safe.
On Operation ROSE personnel were deployed to give COVID-19 tests to hauliers stuck at the Dover border. They also gave out donated supplies to the HGV drivers, including 1,000 sausage rolls, baby wipes and other goods. Any leftovers have been donated to local food banks, charities and zoos.
Before this operation started, 118 personnel were stood ready to support coronavirus related tasks over the Christmas period.
Operation ROSE boosted the numbers by 544 personnel. Other staff members at Headquarter level were also on call.
COVID-19 tests were delivered to the Folkestone area of Kent by the Royal Air Force Puma helicopters.
Others working included:
- 69 drivers supporting the Welsh Ambulance Service
- 18 Combat Medical Technicians in Lincoln hospital
