The Defence STEM Undergraduate Sponsorship Scheme (DSUS) is a fantastic opportunity for students to have their STEM related degree funded and be provided a permanent role on completion of their degree within the Defence Nuclear Enterprise (DNE) or the wider Ministry of Defence (MOD).

The scheme offers to fund your STEM related degree as well as providing a bursary of £5000 per year whilst you study for a maximum of 3 years. We will also provide paid summer work placement opportunities within the DNE for you to gain experience outside of your degree. Once you have successfully completed your degree, you may be appointed to a permanent EO level role (current minimum £26,350) with the expectation that you will remain a Ministry of Defence (MoD) employee for a minimum of 3 years.

The opportunities will sit within the DNE, which sustains the UK’s strategic deterrent and includes the organisations, programmes, and people within government that help support that task. These exciting opportunities will be available in a range of locations nationwide.

Whilst you are undertaking your degree, we will keep in touch with you and work with you to organise summer placements and ultimately your permanent role. Throughout all placements and in your permanent role you will be provided with full support including any equipment and training to help you fulfil your role. We will also cover all costs incurred with travel to alternative sites as required as part of your role. You will be offered support whilst you continue with your professional development, to maintain your skills and professional accreditations.

The next recruitment campaign is likely to take place in early 2023 and will be advertised on the Civil Service Jobs website. More details will be published as soon as we can, but if you would like to find out more, or register your interest, please contact us at DNO-DNE-Talent@mod.gov.uk.
