UK Defence works on behalf of the UK Government to support our 14 Overseas Territories.

Five of the UK’s Overseas Territories are in the Caribbean with around 220,000 people living on these islands.

These Caribbean countries are;

Anguilla 🇦🇮

Cayman Islands 🇰🇾

Turks and Caicos Islands 🇹🇨

Montserrat 🇲🇸

British Virgin Islands 🇻🇬

Each territory has its own written Constitution and is self- governing — having control or rule over oneself — but each has a unique relationship with the UK, and the Queen is their Monarch.

As with British nationals in the UK, the UK Government also has an obligation to protect the safety and security of British nationals in the Territories.

The Royal Navy has an important presence in the Caribbean and the North Atlantic region.

Every year between June and November, it is hurricane season in the North Atlantic and the Caribbean and the Royal Navy is there to lend a hand.

Other stories about British troops in the Caribbean:

Royal Navy ships also routinely conduct exercises with foreign navies in the region, helping to strengthen bonds with some of our closest allies, such as the Netherlands, France and the United States.

The Overseas Territories, together with the UK and Crown Dependencies form one undivided realm.

In times of crisis, the UK Government will continue to support British nationals in the Overseas Territories and offer the necessary support.
