At 1pm on Friday, Death Gun Salutes were fired across the UK, ships at sea and overseas to mark the death of The Queen, with one round for every 96 years of the monarch’s life.
Thousands of people stood in silence for 16 minutes at 1pm as the guns boomed once every 10 seconds.

HMNB Portsmouth carried out a 96-gun salute to mark the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
